Publisher seeks oddball writers for book of unusual information
Chicago, IL • 08/31/2007
We want our readers to say “Wow! I didn’t know that!”
If you have a snappy style, a bent for seeing the oddball quirks in things ordinary and extraordinary—if you’re an armchair expert on unusual topics from little-known UFO sightings to hauntings to macabre attractions to crop circles to museums featuring exhibits beyond weird—then show us your stuff.
We’re looking for writers to contribute to a fairly massive book of unusual information.
OUR IDEAL CONTRIBUTOR…
…has a fierce but friendly grab-you kind of writing style, and knows no boundaries to the imagination. Our past and current contributors have been stand-up comics, performance artists, noted historians and scholars, teachers, and most importantly, aficionados of all manner of subject. The important thing to remember is that this will be a book that can be opened to any page and read for any duration of time, and the reader will go away saying, “Who knew?”
One example: our contributors will know about Roswell (interesting) but can also tell us about the place some call the Roswell of the East (so, do you know?)
The important thing is that the information must cross the boundary of weird!
TIMEFRAME and LOGISTICS
We’re looking to hire immediately, and work will go through November and perhaps longer if needed. This will be a freelance gig, payment commensurate to the volume of the assignment. And the best part of all, the contributors get to suggest the topics they want to write about.
FOR CONSIDERATION…
Please send me your resume, publication list, and three or four of your best (relevant) samples—articles, book excerpts, anything that demonstrates your ability to research the oddest of things.
